Received a new Zoom H2 for Christmas & I've been using the computer to process & play recordings. Listening to recordings of my "Greatest Licks" has been brutal but effective. Came close to changing hobbies, spent some time researching Birding. Absolutely amazes me the dfference between what is going on in my head & what ends up on the tape.

Process has caused me to re appreciate these Klipsch computer speakers. An excellent value, they're traded, used, pretty regular on Craigslist, reasonable, new about $150, I found mine looking for Guilds in a local pawn shop for about $70. Exceptional improvement over the speakers Dell sent with the computer.

Hey Jeff, I've got a Bose system on my computer, and I love it. I have and play all my music on the computer, using the microsoft media player. I've never seen one of those zoom things before. What's it do? I'm a "techno-dummy".

Dear Bleedz & fellow techno dummy,

Zoom H2 is a digital recorder. 4 internal mikes, records data to a CompactFlash card, same as a digital camera. USB interface with the computer.

Slick lil recorder, way ahead of it's size & $200 price. It has limitations but in reality a quite sophisticated device.

Thought they shielded computer speakers like that to prevent just that sort of thing....no?

I find that listening to myself on a recording is extremely humbling. Like you said, your brain tends to ignore the subtle mistakes while playing "live". I think that seeing yourself on video is even worse.

Both are good learning tools, though, but I rarely do it.

You're probably right. It just looked risky, regardless

Dane,

Thanks for the tip, I was unaware the speaker could be a potential problem.

Guess I got lucky, it's been there going on a year.

You're probably not as lucky as I was wrong about the effects. I didn't really consider shielding being able to mask the effects of such a potentially large magnet.
