I'd buy a sunburst D 55, but I already own a 70 D 35. Also, I'm in the don't buy more guitars stage of life, and the only exception would be a 50s or 60s D 18 at this point, but I'd be really picky about it. I remember when I decided I was going to get a fancy mandolin before I died. It was a year or two before my 70th birthday. I really got serious about buying one for that day. It took another two years before it came to pass, money being a big factor. Easy to spend $8000 on one. Still, I ticked all the boxes by being patient. Four or so years. About the time I'd concluded I didn't need one, one appeared. But a D 55 from when they were custom ordered would tempt me.
