At the bottom end of the price range, you could try the P-240 Memoir, an over-sized parlour guitar. Inexpensive. Nice for finger picking. I love mine. It is now my couch beater guitar of choice.

I note with some amusement the word new in the OP's title/question and the number of responses that are either not relevant or an attempt to convince the OP that new might not be what they want.
Yea I’m going to head to the warehouse with a rep to try out some stuff so want to let him know what to have readily tuned up for when I get there so trying to figure out a list to send him of what I’d want to try

...if you were to get a new guild acoustic that was their best stuff, what would you go for?

Not the priciest piece in the showroom but lately the devil on my shoulder keeps circling back to the M-25E California Burst Concert Acoustic (made in Oxnard).
Mahogany. Wired. Unpretentious, iconic. Bling ain't mojo.

I'd buy a sunburst D 55, but I already own a 70 D 35. Also, I'm in the don't buy more guitars stage of life, and the only exception would be a 50s or 60s D 18 at this point, but I'd be really picky about it. I remember when I decided I was going to get a fancy mandolin before I died. It was a year or two before my 70th birthday. I really got serious about buying one for that day. It took another two years before it came to pass, money being a big factor. Easy to spend $8000 on one. Still, I ticked all the boxes by being patient. Four or so years. About the time I'd concluded I didn't need one, one appeared. But a D 55 from when they were custom ordered would tempt me.

My Oxnard D20 is stellar. All mahogany sound in spades. Huge bass, yet balanced throughout the range. Love the neck and playability of this guitar. I’m aiming for a D40 when they hit the store shelves again.

I never buy anything but USA guitars. I have the F50R, F512, and X170. Love them all. So does my audience. They also hold their value.

redta,
In my opinion, those who discount guitars solely on the basis of their country of origin, do themselves a great disservice.
My collection of guitars is small compared to those of many here, but of the five, three were manufactured in countries other than the U.S., and they play well, and look and sound good.
American made guitars are excellent, but their manufacturers' have never had a monopoly on quality, and I believe, to think otherwise is incorrect.

I'm biased but I second the D-40 suggestion if you don't have a great hog dred. But if I were to be buying new to add to the herd it would be a maple F-50.

[just for clarity, these days a new F-50 (from Oxnard) is known as the F-55 Maple]

Didn't say foreign guitars aren't made well or sound good. I have had a few. But I look at the big picture and stick with USA made. If and when I go to sell I find my decision was the right one. Everyone gets to decide for themselves.
