I may be wrong, but I think it was Bert who taught this to Paul Simon:unsure:

Paul Simon credits Davey Graham, the song's composer, with having taught it to him.

Page was a HUGE Jansch deciple, as he was w/ Davy Graham.... and nicked from both....as was the norm in traditional music going back 100's of years.



Combine Jansch's Black Waterslide and Graham's She moves through the fair, and you have the template for Page's early solo showpiece White Summer. And parts that Page himself added in live renditions w/ Zep would wind up much later as the intro to The Firm song Midnight Moonlight. ;)
