I've tried the stock rosewood and also brass on NS Starfires, but ebony would be a new twist.

Maybe the wood saddles were ebony all along.

Here they are.
Note that two are short, two are tall. For radius, I guess.
Unnotched. But I have lotsa bass nut files I can use.
Will report back if they fit FMIC slider paddles.

Just to update:
They work great on FMIC NS Starfire but are super tight getting them onto the paddles. But they fit. Filing for the string diameter easy and they sound great.

UPDATE:
The A string saddle broke!! Fell apart while playing this morning. Seems like a short time to have before breaking but Guild doesn't not warranty them they said so I will buy another set and have extras.
The brass ones are back on for now but there is a bigger, beefier tone with the ebony.

Did it split along the paddles ?

If so - the wood shrinking has to do with it - maybe sand just a bit to have looser fit - and try glueing the broken one together + sanding the gap ?

My '67 saddle split at the top. Gluing it did not work because the pressure on the top of the saddle forced the "legs" apart. I replaced the saddle but the parts are available for the next owner :)

I can take measurements of mine and post here this weekend. I can post both for the brass and ebony.

What material for 3D printing? What are we expecting sonically? I can't recall playing a vintage bass with the black plastic saddles but would we expect the same?

Brass and ebony sound different. I am sure plastic will too. But I am interested to try.
Were the earliest Harp bridges stock with plastic bridges? I seem to remember seeing/hearing that online.

I thought the earlier saddles were mahogany. My 67 has what look like mahogany saddles.

I guess only an original owner could tell us. Otherwise there is no way of knowing what was on their stock. I don't think catalogs would mention it.
I might try making my own with scrap oak. That would be a fun project.
