Nah, ya just gotta get used to them. When you do, you notice that they are missing, especially in "old time/Appalachian" music.

(When I bring our cat to the vet, or to my daughter's house an hour away, if I play banjo-based music I don't here a sound from him,
but if I play some old time/bluegrass without banjo he starts yowling like a banshee!) :D I have created a monster!

Embarrassed to say that some of my best friends are banjo players!

Got immersed in bluegrass during the revival of the ’70s. Went to festivals, took banjo lessons, saw Bill Monroe in a very small venue, etc. There was also a mid ‘60s rock phase, blues phase, country/folk/rock phase, big-band phase, & swing-jazz phase. Still enjoy them all, in varying & highly selective doses.
