I'd tell a big ash joke, but it's too much to grasp.

Baden Powell was a mechanic who worked on my great grand fathers car.

The horn stopped working.

When my great grandfather went to pick it up he asked if it was fixed.

Baden Powell replied: BEEP REPAIRED.

If you were a Scout you would understand.

Baden Powell recorded almost as many albums as John Lee Hooker, and not all of them are great by a long shot. (I have at least 30 LPs.) Some of his records veered into schlock, with breathy vocalizing, strings, uninspired arrangements, etc.

I like *Solitude*, one of the few Powell albums to be issued in the U.S. (great liner notes too!) and some of the albums he recorded for the MPS and Elenco labels.

The good stuff is really good, but proceed with caution!

Yes, I guess I missed some of the "schlock" albums, I have Solitude and 4 on MPS, and IIRC, all are very nice.

Great to see Powell mentioned here. I’ve always loved his “O Astronauta.”

I recommend Bola Sete’s *Ocean* — released by John Fahey’s Takoma label after Bola’s label at time (Fantasy) balked at issuing it because it was so different from his usual fare.

Bola composed its songs — and it’s a knockout. Reissued by Anne Sete as *Ocean Memories*, a double CD, with a second album of previously unissued material from the same sessions.

Fahey never wavered from his opinion that it was the best solo guitar album ever made.
