Greetings everyone!

I just joined this fine forum. I recently bought a 1978 Guild B-301, but the original pickguard and pickup cover is missing. There are some pics in this thread, which I started over on TB:

A luthier in town is making me a new pickguard similar to the original one, but I'm still at a loss on how to find a pickup cover that will fit.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you and once again, I'm very happy to be here!

Hi Kreken, welcome to LTG and congrats on the B301. I just bought one in sunburst too, a couple of months ago.

They are great basses, not as heavy as I thought it would be. I've never seen those pick ups in white before, maybe you could just paint it black.

I`m not sure of any replacement covers that will fit straight on.
Those Guild single coil pick ups sound amazing,

(I know I`m in the minority here but) I prefer them to Darkstars, Bisonics and
even the Guild Bass Humbuckers. Cheers. Rob

also, I believe that is the original pickguard on your bass (or at least part of it). it seems that someone cut it down for some reason

Thought I'd let you know that I was able to buy a NOS pickup cover from Hans Moust, along with two "G"-knobs. With those and the pickguard I'm having made, it won't be long until the beautiful B-301 is restored to its former glory. Thank you, Hans, and thanks to the rest of you as well for replying!

Hello Kevin,

Isn't that a Fender Jazz bass-type pickup in your Guild bass?

Sincerely,

maybe?
I honestly dont know. I know a previous owner hacked up the wiring, disabling the tone and volume pots for some odd reason (and painted it avocado green), but I figured the pup was still original.

now I'm interested to know what a real B301 sounds like, although this doesn't make me want to change my pickup out as I really like the sound of it (this is also why I've been reluctant to fix the wiring...for fear of changing the sound)
