I just saw the thread on autographed guitars. Offends me too, but, wondering how difficult they are to remove. I'm following an autographed guitar with a poly finish and Bono's signature. Nice guitar right up my alley but BONO! No relationship with this instrument or this kind of instrument outside of the fact that the pen and the guitar were in the same place at the same time.

Hi Guitarslinger and welcome to LTG: the subject of how to get siggies off guitars has been threaded here a number of times. You might try using the Search function in the upper right corner; key word search for 'signature' ought to do it. Getting the writing off seems to depend on what kind of ink was used - Sharpie, Magic Marker, Dry Marker - and on what kind of finish; nitro, poly, and so on. Some markers have water-soluable inks; if you have a siggie guitar and don't want the siggie, that's where I'd start; you might get lucky and not have to mess with the rest of it; naptha, lighter fluid, and so on. Again, welcome to LTG! CJ

Won't be any getting that out with naptha ... his name ... your guitar ... does that spell too much cognac?

No, I saw "Jason and the Scorchers" at the impressionable age of 14, and not to be overly dramatic, but that event pretty much made for what I've been doing with my life ever since.
Playing with the guy and we actually becoming real life friends twenty years later was so surreal and great I thought it deserved drastic measures like that.

I made him do that, it's not like he was all too keen on it - and I'm sure I'll never regret it.

My buddy Jason Ringenberg carved his signature into the back of my telecaster.

Well, I guess that's better than having your Social Security Number (for Americans) carved because some police department thought it was a good anti-theft measure, at the time.

Just imagine if either of the Pres candidates had mentioned Jason and the Scorchers as a turning point in their life.

The closest either of the wannabe Prezes is gonna get is the moment that they knew that, for the rest of their lives, they were either a boxers or a briefs guy ...
