Have posted here infrequently, but know this is the place to ask the question. What do you think of this guitar on Reverb?

Tenor Guitar Guild Aristocrat M-75

Seller says it's in good condition and everything works. Looks like it needs a bit of work on the binding at least.

Thanks

These don't come up too often, but I've never seen one in worse shape. What's up with the block inlays? Are they original or added or .... I'm not sure. Price seems high for a used/non-functioning/parts guitar with some issues. It's not even strung up so how do you evaluate? Not sure on this.....

Yeah, overpriced for certain, in that condition.

Nice to see you posting here, Doc.

Somebody badly refinished the entire guitar including the fingerboard! So the top and fingerboard are "ruined" and obviously all the hardware except the special 4 string tailpiece (which is important to have at least) are missing... Where would you find 4 string Franz pickups? Impossible to find.

Plus there is a very limited audience who plays 4 string tenor guitars.

Would have looked like this:

There are two of these on Reverb from the same seller that could probably be modified into soapbars, but they're pricey.

Eastwood Guitars is the only manufacturer I've come across that regularly still makes electric tenor guitars. Maybe they might have a suggestion where to find appropriate pickups?

I assume a bar style pickup would work?

Sure -- why not? Check out Eastwood's array of tenors. Quite a few have bar-type pickups.
