Are these cracks very serious or is it just finish cracks?

I'm trying to purchase my first 12-string and it has to be a higher end Guild. How bad are these cracks from a techie viewpoint?

Is that all there is? I'd like to see more detail at the bridge and at the tail of the guitar.

The description says two top cracks. Given those two known cracks and the finish cracking along the grain I am guessing it was not stored correctly. Those other lines could just be in the finish or they could be deeper. Hard to tell without an in hand inspection.

There's (a lot of ) bridge lift, Shovelhead. The splitting of the finish might be due to that, but I don't think that's the only problem. I don't like what I see where the neck meets the body.

Pass on this one, shovel.

Not good! Looks like somebody stepped on it. Now I see the seller says the cracks are professionally repaired, so I guess it could be OK. I'm not sure if the saddle looks a little low? The rosewood-backed JF55-12 is a great model. Price seems high for that cracked condition. There are a couple of US-made jumbo braceless lam maple archbacked 12-strings on reverb in the same price neighborhood you might check out, too:

BTW, that's an ebony fretboard.

Forget it : you can find better than this guitar...Just take your time and buy when you see something that's really worth it...
I've seen guitars in a much better condition for that kind of price, and there's no need to take the risk. It could be even worse than it seems. I don't like it when they write very good condition and it's not

Finish cracks run in any and every direction and don't follow the grain of the wood.

These do, which is an indication that they're more likely through the wood.
I actually see both. Note in photo two, bottom of the bout, the concentric arc cracks. That looks like an impact fracture to me.. May have aggravated pre-existing issues or suffered more damage since, hard to tell without a good inspection.

OK @#$%&^%$#$%^!!!! Case Closed!
Yeah. No go. Nothing to get frustrated about, Shovel; that thing is in bad shape. Good that you stayed away.

See the FS/FT threads here on the forum if you want something good. Also keep an eye on the guitars posted in the online offerings that folks have posted and that we've had our $0.02.

Another case closed! Thanks so much to all you members for your advice/knowledge!

Just bought me a single owner, 2010 New Hartford made F412. It had one crack in it which was professionally 'cleated'. You would never know there was a problem. Instrument was repaired and re-hydrated by pro luthier in Tempe Arizona and it looks showroom condition.
Comes with original hardshell case and all docs propaganda from time of new purchase.

LR Baggs Anthem (the full one not SL) came factory installed in her.
That's a $325 feature ... I know - I've bought 2 of them in the past and installed them in my Marty D-35 and Gibby J-45 banner. Wouldn't have any other kind of system.

I hate the anxiety that comes with a purchase like this - drooling, farting, head spasms etc ... ya'll know what I'm talking about. Then ... there's the sticken weekend gettin' in the way of delivery time aghhhhhhhhhhho_O

I wanted a rosewood body & sides but oh well. I've ordered a new one expected in September when Sweetwater gets them in again off backorder. Who knows ... maybe I'll love this maple. We'll see.
Thanking all you folks again for all yer input!
