Hello bastarddarsh,

Hope you don't mind me posting this as a new thread. People may not notice when it's buried in another thread with a different subject:

There is a Thunderbird on ebay this week.

It had been a while since any Thunderbirds were on ebay. Then two showed up three to four weeks ago. One sold for around $2900 and the other around $3500. M

This is the one on eBay right now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GUILD-1963-THUN...yZ118985QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It is listed as a '1963- First year of production', but it's actually a 1964 model. Might be what you're looking for!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I think the one in the eBay link had been offered for sale before (on Mercantino Musicale, an italian used instruments sales and exchange portal), and it seems that the seller eventually put it up for auction on eBay, and he got a decent bid for it.
His orginal asking price (on Mercantino Musicale) was a bit steep, 3500 euros I think he was asking for it
it appears to be in great condition though

Whoa, sold for more than $4000! I keep wondering why these are so expensive - is it the Zal Yanovsky connection, or just the fact that they're pretty rare?

yup, pretty rare, I think less than 1000 Guitars were made
and this one seemed to be all original and in good nick
the more sought after earlier model with the buckers
then it appears there was a bidding war ...

hmmm, I just noticed there's no serial number on the back of the headstock
on my T-Bird (allegedly made in 1964) I couldn't find a serial number on the back of the headstock either, so the obvious question : where to look for a serial number ?

Hello bieke,

That guitar has a serial number at the back of the headstock, but you just couldn't see it in the photo because of the glare.
That's were the serial number should be of your Thunderbird, so if it's not there, then it has been removed.

By the way, the Thunderbird in the auction is from 1967 and not earlier.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
