I gave myself a late year (call it holiday) guitar/restoration. I bought back a 1955 Gibson Switchmaster that was in need of serious work. With any luck, it’ll be back in my hands mid-January. 🤞

I still have one in the mail, from the UK, a repatriation. It's been a very busy season for the jolly one.

3 guitars, a bass, 5 guitar pedals, a Weber 12" speaker, a lap steel, an Autoharp, many music books including the Dano book from GG.

Ho Ho Ho ;]

I just posted this is the "Guitar Straps" thread, I hadn't seen this new thread yet. But I'll add it here too since you asked. I got two Red Monkey leather straps!

I got a Quilter Superblock UK. I'm playing it through a Fargen open back 1x12" cab loaded with an 8-ohm Weber 1230-55 speaker (Celestion G12H-30 tone). The JMP setting is insanely fun for playing '70s rock with any HB-1 equipped Guild, but I seem to use the AC Normal setting for most of my single coil pickup power pop stuff. It's chimey and Voxy, but not 100% accurate in terms of having a Vox voice. It's close enough, though. There are 3 speaker cabinet simulations when using headphones or the line out for recording. The only setting I like (with headphones) is the Normal setting. I am still tryng to get used to the active (cut/boost) tone controls. A slight turn of a knob yields a very noticeable change in tone. The range of tone is impressive that's for sure.

So far I really like it. I haven't run into any strange digital (or analog) artifacts in the sound and the settings give me great Brit Beat tone. I still have to try it using my Orange closed back cab loaded with a 16-ohm Celestion 12 to see how that changes things. It can get quite loud which is louder than I need/want for playing at home. I think it could hold it's own in a band setting especially if using the line out to a PA. I like not worrying about tubes (valves) with this one, though I let it "warm up" out of tube amp habit. Based on how well this 25-watt amp sounds, I'd like to try a Superblock US once they become available.

My wife gave me a gag gift this year, and I'm still laughing about it. It was a box filled with Little Debbie snacks and Captains wafers. On the outside of the box she wrote, "you make me want to walk . . . . like a camel." Now for you for whom this makes no sense, you'll just have to watch the attached YouTube video. "Southern Culture On the Skids," is a veritable institution for some folks in the Tar Heel state (where we used to live). "Camel Walk" is one of my favorites for lifting a bad mood. Enjoy!

I got cordless clippers for the dog so he can't run just outside of the cord's radius from the outlet. It has five speeds so I could probably play some music with it, but Sully just runs away so it's no fun.

I ordered a second "guitars with cases around them" stand after Christmas. We call that " Saturday Claus ". One year, Christmas was on Friday and the day after was the day you started shoping for what you didn't get but wished you did. The name stuck with us, no matter the day Christmas falls on.

You do NOT know how badly I needed that today. Thanks!😁
