I was at an Iron Maiden concert so crowded I had to stand next to the PA towers... I remember walking out with a couple buddies and I could see their lips moving but no sound coming out. Ahhh, the stupidity of youth.

The tinnitus test A/B kept repeating over and over without conclusion. What's sad is how I couldn't hear it unless I really turned it up, because B is a good match. That said, I like my tinnitus much better than that the test tones.

.....I got used to it.

In any event I am aware of it but it has receded to the background of my consciousness.
I'm used to it...
...I learned to live with it.

Yeah, it depends where your attention is. But when it's quiet and you give it your attention, it's there. I guess you get "used to it" and learn to "live with it" since there's not much else you can do. I have NPR playing at low volume all night -- this takes one's attention off the tinnitus. I only vaguely listen to the content -- it's not necessary to grasp what's being said all the time -- it's just the background sound and voices that takes your attention and you forget about the tinnitus.

...Worse lately since my second Moderna shot. Unfortunately, since I've already had the virus my reaction to both shots was WAY worse than most people.

Oh man, sorry to hear that, Tom. The second Moderna hit Mrs. Cougar really hard, too -- chills, fever, exhaustion... thankfully no A-fib -- sheesh!
I have a random ringing in one of my ears that happens randomly for a few seconds. Not sure if that’s tinnitus or not.
No, I think that's something else. I've had that, too. Not often, thankfully!
By any chance did you take aspirin or aspirin related meds for your headache?
Yeah, that may have helped with the headache, but not the tinnitus.
...In my Google search I’m finding 1000’s if not tens of 1000’s of people reporting the same.
Apparently reports of tinnitus after vaccination are really rare -- 1 in 24,000? -- but I guess you're not alone with this side-effect. Maddening as it is, I don't think you'd prefer Covid, which can be really bad AND can have its own long-term effects that you don't want either. Hang in there, Mikey. I hear guitar playing is a cure! 😀

Years of playing in a recording studio standing next to a half stack made me realize that I could hear better out of the ear that was always facing way from the amp. Then there was the George Thouroughgood show where we sat near the stage right speakers. I couldn't hear at all for two days.

Then there was Van Halen.
.38 Special.
Night Ranger.
You get the idea.

And then I sat at my desk in a mainframe computer room for two years before a doctor told me that it was worse than all the concerts combined.

So yeah, the ringing is constant and has been since probably 1984.

Honestly, my problem is that even though I love music and great sound, I hate noise. Does that make any sense? But bull$hit noise is my problem. I hate background noise. Don can conk out to background and TV and anything, and i'm like IT NEEDS TO BE QUIET!! But that doesn't bother me when I go to sleep (usually) because my mind is so effing LOUD that I have to do meds and calming talk-down stuff to go to sleep. And see all night, I've been fine because music and life but now that I'm listening to my head..... it's ringing. So I'm gonna finish this post and watch a couple episodes of Arrow and then put my head down and NOT think about this C# that's ringing in my ears. Okay? Thanks for listening......

I have it mostly in my left ear which was the side closest to the drummer. I guess all those cymbal crashes.
Mostly through the day I can ignore it but if I notice it getting worse, I go and see an osteopath and get cracked and massaged around the neck. It appears to me that neck tension brings it on.

I’ve had a couple short bouts of Hyperacusis. For me it’s been a painful sensitivity to low-mids even at low volumes. That includes a lot of everyday sounds. Thankfully I haven’t experienced it for a couple years now.

Ughhh, this thing is relentless. I’m sorry to hear that a bunch of you are suffering with this as well, some much worse than me from the sound (no pun intended) of it. Tinnitus is the Devil.

Went to the audiologist and ENT yesterday. Hearing decline at the higher tones 4000-6000 was within “normal expectations” for my age. I suppose that is the good news. The bad news, as I expected, is that for the tinnitus they basically said suck it up and get used to it.

So it sounds like I’m pretty much on my own to find some relief. So now comes the grasping at straws stage.

I went to a local natural med/herb seller and picked up some Ginko, Magnesium, and B-12 to help increase circulation. Maybe there is some type of chiro or cranial therapy that might help?

Trying to research white noise machines and hearing aids that counter/notch the tinnitus. Very hard to find any objective info or comparisons that are not ad-related sales tools pushing to buy something. Any suggestions for these types of products?

2nd shot of Moderna for both of us yesterday. Wife woke up to the dry heaves this morning but she's fine now. My shoulder's sore, and a few extra aches and pains. Otherwise drinking coffee, already bought a guitar, just another day in paradise ;]

I developed Tinnitus two weeks ago just after my Covid vaccine (which I now regret getting) and it is driving me crazy. I finally go see an ENT specialist today but from what I’ve been reading am not hopeful. Any suggestions on what to ask and all advice is welcome.

I can ignore it somewhat during the day when in conversations or when the TV or music is on. I can’t sit quietly - there is no “quiet” any longer. Just a high pitch siren in my head.

Trying to sleep is the worst. Absolute hell. I dread going to bed. I have a white noise machine going, pretty loudly and it helps a little. But even with OTC sleeping pills I can only manage maybe 2-3 hours of restless sleep. Two weeks of this is beginning to take it’s toll.
Mike,
I am very sorry to hear this. I have suffered from low-grade tinnitus for around 20 years at least, maybe longer. Fortunately, when I am active during the day, I don't notice it much, except at certain times. Otherwise, lying quietly in bed will enhance my experience of it. I also wear hearing aids. The manufacturer of the aids provides a software program that sort of helps, by feeding certain kinds of soothing sounds into my ears, such as the sound of the surf, as well as other type sounds of that nature. Otherwise, at least in my case, there's no cure for it. I would be wary of so-called cures you might see on the internet.

I got two shots of Moderna and weathered the effects okay. Nothing much bothersome about it.

Back around 1968 I attended a Jefferson Airplane concert at my college (Beloit). Stupidly, I sat near the stage right next to some of the BIG speakers. 'Nuf said. Tinnitus can be caused by a number of different things. Sustained exposure to loud music, especially the higher frequencies, or, it could be a one off event, like an exploding firecracker right nearby, or a jackhammer -- you name it.

Hey Rich ;]

Odd thing is I think it affect men/women differently. Our slightly more elderly neighbors got their second shots of Moderna a couple months ago now, and he had nothing, but she was pretty sick for a couple days. A much better scenario than both sick at the same time.

Also to note, as they find out more, folks with weakened immune system don't have much of a reaction, and in fact don't really build up antibodies.

So the difference between them is possibly that she has a much more active immune system than his.

Also to note, moderate alcohol consumption is ok, quite possibly even good for you, it relieves inflammation, but... beyond moderate use compromises the immune system, as well as other damage.

My shoulder is sore, but typing is fine, beyond the everyday dislexia and AI changing words as you type...

Yes, industrial noises are the worst. I've always been a stickler for ear protection in the workplace. I can't actually grind metal, etc without something over my ears. Gunfire can do a number on you also. If you're out shooting and you don't have proper ear protection, wad toilet paper in there, mullein leaves, etc, but stuff something in there or the ringing will be with you for quite a while.

It's crazy when you see pictures of artillery crews in WWI and WWII with absolutely nothing on their ears and piles of spent shells around their feet.

At the beginning of WWI, "Guns of August" Barbara Tuchman, quite possibly the best historian I've ever read, the cannon shells they lobbed over previously impenetrable Belgian forts made the men within the walls go mad within a few rounds.

I believe this to be true.
My experience as a healthy (no meds/no underlying condition) individual, was getting sick as a dog after the 2nd Pfizer shot which I got last Friday.
In bed for a whole day following the shot (good thing I got it on a Friday as I do still work), with muscle aches all over, chills and a moderate fever, and feeling sick for 3 days after that....
Yesterday was the first time I felt completely relieved of the side effects since the shot last Friday.
Very glad I got it done though.

This is me. Immunosuppression meds for life after a kidney transplant. No ill effects from two Pfizer shots. But the downside is the vaccine is less effective - maybe 70 - 75% vs the advertised 90+.

I just heard yesterday on the news the Pfizer shot was 94% effective, but you can't believe anything these days we live in.

Here's some info from Yale Med about vaccines and effectiveness (which was reported by the manufacturers as results from their clinical trials):
