I developed Tinnitus two weeks ago just after my Covid vaccine (which I now regret getting) and it is driving me crazy. I finally go see an ENT specialist today but from what I’ve been reading am not hopeful. Any suggestions on what to ask and all advice is welcome.

I can ignore it somewhat during the day when in conversations or when the TV or music is on. I can’t sit quietly - there is no “quiet” any longer. Just a high pitch siren in my head.

Trying to sleep is the worst. Absolute hell. I dread going to bed. I have a white noise machine going, pretty loudly and it helps a little. But even with OTC sleeping pills I can only manage maybe 2-3 hours of restless sleep. Two weeks of this is beginning to take it’s toll.

So sorry you're going through this and I hope your doc can offer some help.

I've had it for years. My guess is high volume headphones, but since I have never sought medical advice I could be completely wrong regarding cause. Maybe it would have happened anyway.

I sincerely hope you can find relief if not resolution.

Likewise, for many years now. I know this is of no help, but I got used to it. It's always there and can mostly ignore it, but there are times it makes me crazy. And there's nothing the docs can do about it. Good luck!!

Definitely from the vaccine. Never had it or any hearing loss before. I had a bad headache for two days after the shot. When that ended I got the Tinnitus that I thought would go away after a couple days, but it has not. In my Google search I’m finding 1000’s if not tens of 1000’s of people reporting the same. Though my primary Doc claims he is/was unaware.

I've had it for many years - caused by either too many and too loud concerts and headphone listening sessions and/or prolonged NSAID use for my rampant osteoarthritis.

In any event I am aware of it but it has receded to the background of my consciousness. I still enjoy listening to recorded and live music and find it really doesn't interfere. The brain is an amazing thing - you may find it becomes less and less "front of mind" over time.

Like Kurt and GG, for many years now. I'm not even sure any more how it started. I think one of my BP meds was the culprit, but it's there. Worse lately since my second Moderna shot. Unfortunately, since I've already had the virus my reaction to both shots was WAY worse than most people. My primary care doc verified that that's usually the case. However, this last shot was bad and it flipped me into A-fib, which I take blood thinners for. Now they have me on a heart rhythm medication that makes the tinnitus worse, and has slowed my erratic rhythm, but not made it go away, so next week they're gonna have to shock me back into regular sinus rhythm. What a pain in the butt. I wish they'd just do the shocking (which works) and leave off all these meds that give me side effects.

In the beginning it used to drive me crazy, or okay, crazier, and after time I guess I learned to ignore it better. It may resolve some after a while, but mention it to your doctor. They can medicate with some effect. Also, if you're hard of hearing (which I'm not) and you get new, modern hearing aids, they can help you as well. When Don got his hearing aids, and the guy was testing and adjusting the settings, he asked if he had any tinnitus. He doesn't but I sat up and paid attention and then asked a few questions and found they can do noise cancelling with the hearing aids if they determine the pitch of the ringing. But since I hear just fine, that's not something I would pursue, but it's a thing.

If it's new to you, I know it seems overwhelming right now, but you get better at ignorning it. You really do. Sorry you're having to deal with this, Mike.

I only had it for a day after seeing Van Halen in '82, so I really have no idea what you are going through. It sounds like it sucks.

I have, however, lost a few people I know to COVID, and a cousin in intensive care right now, so tinnitus doesn't sound so bad in comparison. Of course, it shouldn't be a choice.

Yup, for quite awhile now, ever since I blacked out in a drunken stupor, smacked my ]head on the floor, knocked myself out, was taken by ambulance to Detroit where I was told a had a subdural (sp) hematoma etc. etc.

It was a good wake up call and I quit my alcohol entirely so that was a good outcome. But, that damned ringing/whining in my ears is there forever I guess. I try to think of it as another harmony part to whatever song I'm working on at the time.

Crew Chief C-130. Had it since 1972. There are worse things. Get an RX for some medical MJ and see if that helps before bedtime. I have become so conditioned to it's presence that it is only during certain quiet times that I am really bothered but yeah not being able to sleep is absolute HELL for me when that happens. Good Luck!

Vaccine and tinnitus beats dead!

Yeah, those C-130s are quite a bit loud.

I have a random ringing in one of my ears that happens randomly for a few seconds. Not sure if that’s tinnitus or not.

I've had tinnitus for years. I hear crickets when they're not chirping. Wife says things like "can you hear those birds?" in the morning. I can if I try real hard, I hear them and realize they're part of all the other sounds I hear.

It's like white noise, but pink noise, it's high pitched. I've learned to ignore it.

Only if I concentrate on it I can hear it. Best way I can describe it is "I hear crickets, lots of crickets".

I thought this was normal.

Now that you brought it up, it's not going way, but it will when I stop focusing on it.

I hate to say this but I find the sound of the crickets quite comforting actually.

I have 2114Hz or 4228Hz - maybe combination - ringing in my head 24/7 - since - few decades - must be from being careless in youth about loud noise.

I'm used to it - whenever I think of it - like now - I hear it clearly. Does not affect sleep - but my wife has very low voice - and time to time I can't her her clearly. Then I walk to in front of her and say - can you repeat - and then I'll hear.

Now some of you might remember that I'm a FOH sound engineer - how can I hear the music and mix it - answer - the sound level at a concert is at 80dB-100dB - and my tinnitus is propably at 30-35dB SPL level. So it just gets suppressed.

Had it for years. Sometimes it gets in the way and annoying but mostly its kinda like suburban city noise at 3am. Too many head phone sessions plus 20 years sitting in a server rack room office with hundreds of servers, routers and switches all playing the same tune. It may or may not ease up for you. But I learned to live with it. Keep some white noise handy at bed time. Nothing loud. Just background noise. If you haven't already found it, this is a frequency tool .. https://www.tinnitracks.com/en/matching#

By any chance did you take aspirin or aspirin related meds for your headache?
A known trigger.

Whatever...there is no treatment or cure...sorry...and you will get used to it...eventually...perhaps having soft music playing quietly at night will distract your brain for a bit until then.
