Just played the old vinyl through my McIntosh C28 w a Phase Linear amp.

All Hopped Up.....acquired taste

Fantastic band! They never got the credit they deserved. Those guys could play anything, at any time.
the earliest record of theirs I have is ‘Boppin‘ the Blues’ with Carl Perkins. Still sounds great.

Back around 1980 I was commuting from New Haven to Danbury and would stop about half way for coffee, a little place near the Stevenson Dam that as a kid was just a hot dog stand at a beach. They had a bulletin board with business cards tacked up, and one of them was for the New Rhythm and Blues Quartet. I thought about taking it, but I'm not really a collector of that sort of thing. I did notice sometime during the 2 years I stopped there that somebody took it. They were regulars at Toad's Place in New Haven.
