So I am still on the hunt for a vintage x 175.
I found this one from 1966. Seems to be in a very good condition. The seller mentions there might have been a neck reset at some time because there are some touch ups at the neck joint. I add this picture where this " damage" shows. Something to worry about ? Or should I go for it ?

Thanks in advance for your advice ?

It is online. Non returnable. Normally I could go there by train because the seller allows to collect it and test it ( so that is also some kind of reassurance) but due to the covid 19 situation I don' t travel by public transport and certainly not internationally ( I'm from Belguum, guitar is in Holland).

Ask a Dutch friend or forum member to help you out?

I would definitely travel the short distance from Belgium to Holland rather than take a risk on a non-returnable item.* Is it very cheap because of the neck damage, which is possibly just finish? Is it cheap enough to cover luthier costs?

The action looks fine but there's a fair bit of fretwear. The first step is request lots of additional photos.

* I once flew across the Atlantic for particularly peachy 1960 Starfire III

There are more pics and the rest of the guitar looks very clean. I'll post them asap ( having some troubles with online connection now)

is it a spruce top?

I would ask for a picture that shows the action at the end of the fingerboard. You want to see if the fingerboard extension (the bit that floats over the body) has hump, or bends up or down. If you rarely play up the very top, then bending down isn't a major problem, but if it bends up it can cause buzzes and chokes when playing further down.

Do you have a good idea about prices? I'm a European buyer, feel free to PM if you want a second opinion on the price. Don't worry, I'm not after one myself :)

it looks also like the bridge is right down. if the action is high but the bridge has no adjustment room then you're stuck with a high action

This does not look like a net reset to me, just finish damage at the connection. It looked exactly the same on my Starfire IV and I also applied a bit of clear lacquer just to seal it and if one did not shave it afterwards with a rasor blade and polished it, it looks exactly like on your picture.
Below is a small repair of broken binding, mind binding shrinks over time, so somebody reglued it and closed the gap with some melted binding.

Yes, you can see a little more binding separation on the inside of the horn but this is completely normal and it's small scale.

As others have said....it does look like finish touch up at the neck join seam.
Sometimes the finish pulls away at that area.

But what concerns me is that the bridge base looks like its been cut down considerably.
Without having it in hand to inspect, I'd suspect that it likely needs a neck reset.

Hello, I do not mean to interrupt but I have a 1960 Guild X-175 with original case of which I am the second owner. I bought it several years ago and it sits in my storage closet in my house. I have been contemplating selling it. I has seen some use but is very solid and has cream P-90's. I am in Oregon so it is a bit of a stretch to come visit but I would guarantee its condition and authenticity. I really do not know what to ask for it because selling it has just been a thought up until now. In fact, I just opened up the forum to see who has info on the X-175. Serial number is 13771 which dates it to 1960.

That is a beauty for sure. Some will give you a "ballpark" figure but I never like pricing other people's stuff.

Yes, I fully understand that and I was not asking just thought I would look around and see what others are asking for it.

And welcome. Lots of knowledge about guitars on this forum, especially, Guilds. If your intent is to sell, certainly appreciate you giving the members of LTG the first chance to buy.
