Hi from another new guy. After forty-something years of playing,gigging,etc.,etc.I finally got a guild.Picked up a 1974 F-50w/ a cherry(walnut?)colored back and sides.I've wanted one of these since I was about 17 and that is a LONNNGGG time ago.I've been looking in on you all for a couple of years and have really enjoyed all the good discussions and info.I guess my first question is :string guages for the jumbo? My other guitars include electrics and a couple of acoustics(see below). In the past I've always put 11s on my old Terada dreadnoughtbut recently gotten into Cleartone 12s.Any opinions would be welcome.P.S.,the 50 is a true joy!! I haven't put it down since it came home. guitars:1967 Hagstrom III/1978 Ibanez Artist(ES-335 knock-off)/1972 Terada TR1006(Japanese D-28 wannabe)mid-90s Charvel-Jackson 12 string acc/elec//Yamaha BB1000 bass and assorted Fender tube amps.

Watch out for Graham. Sometimes he charges when annoyed.

Other times, he pays cash.

Welcome to LTG, Mike! A 1974 F-50 is a fine guitar and I hope it continues to be an inspiration to you.

Welcome Mike in CT... I have a "cousin-in-law" named Michael in CT that was training as a classical guitarist 30+ years ago... and gave it up for a career in computers. Wouldn't be the same Mike, would it? Look forward to seeing you around LTG...

Hey Mike. Certainly seems like you're old enough to join without getting carded... (Finally got my first Guild early this year after wanting one since the 60s) Welcome to LTG!!!

Welcome to LTG Mike. I like the light strings myself. John Pearse PB which are 12 - 53, although I have asked Don to order me the slightly light 80/20 11 - 50. Even on the JF-30 I find there is plenty of volume.

So far, great strings and a great price from Don.

Welcome to LTG, Mike. I've had my D25CH since 1978. I'm a D'Addario string fan using the EJ-26 or EJ-16 PB sets on my three acoustics. I just purchased their EFT-16 PB Flat Tops to give them a try but won't be installing for a bit since I just changed the strings on my guitars in the last week. I've been using D'Addario strings since the early 70's so you could say I'm a satisified customer though I had a twenty-two year gap there. lol lol And, yes, I've tried others on occassion.

Hey Mike!
Welcome from a fellow newbie.
Really great place with good people too.
I have a Jackson JX4 prototype guitar-1994 Cobalt blue.Only 600 made.
I have never played it-it just sits in the case.Probably will put it on EBAY.
But I do play my new m20.
See ya around!
Jan :)
