Hey Guilders,
Just joined, been lurking. Pedal steel is my main instrument these days but I have some Guilds on my guitar armory:

Bluesbird, bought in 1970. Black, a bit beat-up from playing.
CE 100 double pickup, the white Bakelite pickups (These are Franz, right?). Sunburst.
CE 100 with later pickups, blond
DeArmond X-155, sunburst.

Pictures . . . at a later date.

Hearty welcome, Steelman. I've always thought the pedal steel is what made the country band complete. In Indian music there's the sarangi, an acoustic instrument that's bowed. It touches the soul of the listener and complements the singer with its own human-like voice.
What year is the CE 100 with the white bakelite pups?

Hi guys and thanks for the great welcome. It has been fun up to now reading what y'all are discussing.

Dreadnut, pedal steel goes great with bluegrass IF the steeler knows how to blend with the more acoustic instruments. Steel dominates so easily. (Also we have a love/hate relationship with banjo players, ha ha !!).

Rebosbro and Ruedi, I'll arrange some photos soon. The Bluesbird is indeed a veteran.

Rich C, thoroughly agree about steel and country music. I know about the sarangi, veena, sitar are (been to India 4 times.) But do you know Debashish Battarcharya? On YouTube. He and others play what look like a cross between an acoustic guitar, dobro, and sitar: the instrument is played on the lap with a bar and there are sympathetic strings. Debashish has gotta have the fastest left hand in the world. Here's an example.

And Rich I am not sure about the older CE 100 (w/Bakelite pickups). I bought it in Houston in the mid-70s. But you guys have experts here on the site that will tell us all about the years when they see serial numbers.

OK, looking forward to more Guild stuff. BTW: I live now in Rhode Island.

Ah, but what steels do you have?!
Steels . . .I thought this was a guild site (ha ha).

Spoox, I play a Carter SD 12 with 5 and 6; keep an old MSA SD 12 set up at home; Have an MSA Double 12 with 10 and 5 (hea.a.a.avy) in the basement.

And a Fender 4-neck and Gibson Console Grande non-pedal (console) steels)

Oh--thanks Mikey; Uke; and GGJaguar: (Hans, I presume)?

Wow, sounds like a grand collection of steels.

Yeah, well, we ALL have love/hate relationships with banjo players!

So Buddy Cage laid down some of the best pedal steel chops ever!

I have a banjo player who has a love hate relationship with banjo. He is now playing mostly dobro.

Saw Buddy Cage a few years ago at an NRPS show. NRPS was more fun for nostalgia's sake than they were good. Buddy was still great though.

Welcome Steelman.
