Our very own "Reddfin" had the great idea to PM me the other day to ask me about a local luthier, and that's when I realized we lived about 8 miles apart.... Then as we kept on chatting, he informed me of a place (Bar) that I had never heard about before, (and a few blocks from home!!) where Wednesday and Thursday see some live jamming happening. So we decided to meet there soon, and it happened Wednesday! :D
In addition to the pleasure of meeting Tony, I got to give a bit of "live" play to my Bluesbird, which I had really never tested in loud live settings, and I must say it screams! 8)
Thanks again Tony, looking forward to the next time, on acoustic night maybe....
One more great encounter for the LTG books!...

I missed this thread so I am late to the party, but I am sure glad I can say I was there. The place is Cloud Nine Cigar Bar. Its a nice comfortable room and the owner loves music. He jumps up and plays a little too. If he was a little better marketer he would have put something up on youtube a long time ago.

That Bluesbird sounded as nice as it looked. That thing screamed!! It won over some pretty discerning fans too. It goes without saying, the guy playing it wasn't half bad either. Holy Cow:shock:

My buddy is a devout Hamer guy but he played the Bluesbird for a long time. I thought he wasnt gonna give it back

A few of the guys asked when you were coming in again especially the guy who runs it. He missed that week. He drums in a pretty popular blues band and heard about your chops:D

I don't think its the typical jam setting. Most of the guys are pros (Bluespicky included) or retired musicians but they always welcome newbies as well. We have had chicks with flutes, old guys with trumpets, regular Joe's with mouth harps, guys in from Nashville with steel guitar etc. You never know how it will go. Its a great time to go and catch some local entertainment and enjoy a nice cigar and a single malt.

The line up and genres change some too but its always got some country, classic rock, and some blues. If acoustic is more your thing Thursdays are for you. If anyone is planning on going let me know. Always up for meeting some Guild fans and its pretty close to home.

Sounds like a kewl place to jam, though it's hours across the peninsula from my 10-20.
Night gatherings aren't my thing these days, nor driving late at night.

Might be convinced to cross the state for an afternoon gig sometime!
Glad to hear that Y'all had a great time, though!

And I thought bringing threads back from the dead was a trademark of the Great Hatted one!

I really really like the place except for two things. One, its missing a pool table. Secondly, there isnt much "eye candy" around, but when it does show up its usually very, very nice 8) When I hit the lottery I will buy the place and expand it a little and invite the Guild crew. Just have to get the winning numbers first

Cool links. I love the cello and the cellist in that second link. Very nice indeed. :D I checked some more of their stuff. Thanks Michael.

Bringing the S100 might be prudent. My buddy Harry might not give you back that stunning Bluesbird if you let him play it a second time

If anyone wants to show up please do. The new people showing up is what keeps it really interesting!!

I'm very partial to chicks with cellos. Who knows how but somehow, that seems like a great combination.
Trust me on this..You NEED to check out the duet between Susan Sarandon's cellist character and Jack Nicholson on piano in "The Witches of Eastwick"..which is a pretty delightful little nugget in its own right. :D
