For some time I have been looking for a guitar to keep in my appartement in France. To carry a guitar each time I travel from Norway to France is not a very good idea, due to luggage restrictions and airline security. And being without a guitar for an extended period of time is not a good idea either.

I have been looking for an OM or 000-sized acoustic guitar. I was thinking of a Martin OM-28 or 000-28, but had not found any of these in any store in my part of France. One day I went into a music store and my eyes fell on an OM-sized Guild guitar. I played the guitar and liked it. For some reason there was no price tag on the guitar. I asked for the price, and as a result of my bad french and the salesman\'s bad english, I did not get the price right. I thought he said 1819 Euro, which would have been about 200 Euro below the lowest price I have seen advertised for a Martin 000-28 in France. I was not cheap, but I thought that it could be a reasonable price for this guitar. Then it turned out that it was not 1819, but 819 Euro. A Martin 000-28 or OM-28 may be a better guitar, but they are not 1200 Euros better than the Guild. This guitar is really value for money!

The Guild GAD series are \"Guild Acoustic Design\". They are designed by Guild, but made (by hand) in China. This explains the price. Maybe I have been lucky and have found a very good guitar from this series. But after having bought this guitar, I searched the net for more information. I found several very enthusiastic reviews. One of them said that this guitar can be compared with several high quality US made acoustics, and I agree. If you do not want so spend too much on a good guitar, give the Guild GAD series a try.
