Kostask:
Just looking so dad blame good and I have a great feeling for this old horse.
It is going to sound, equally, impressive and what a journey it is about to complete--not to mention the story it will have to tell.
Thank you for letting LTG members ride along.

The guitar has been polished out, and will have its first clear coats sprays\ed this weekend.

No pictures, as it will get increasingly hard to show progress, and because my luthier hasn't sent any to me.

Lacquer actually dries fairly quickly which is a thing that makes it so easy to work with. After a week, I level the finish, then start the final buffing with super fine sandpaper, then Maguiar's heavy cut cleaner. BOOM! You've got a beautiful finish!! It will out-gas for years and years but you can make it pretty and then let nature take it's course. That's my take on this. I've done it enough. No way would customers let me keep their dining room table for MONTHS!! (y)

I just had these pictures texted to me. Luthier says that 5-6 coats of lacquer were just applied. Still has to put on a few coats of amber tinted lacquer (binding is way too white compared to the binding on the rest of the guitar).

BTW, the picture is not upside down, the guitar is hanging upside down while being sprayed.

Please read some of the previous posts. I asked for this type of sunburst, so that it came close to the 1930s-1940s Gibson J-35/J-45 sunbursts. This is in memory of the most outstanding acoustic guitar that I have ever heard, a 1933/1934 Gibson J-35. I also specified the 3 colur sunburst, where there is a shade of red between the amber/yellow and the black. This was my choice, given the constraints in place. My original wish was to have it all stay natural, but that was not possible with the mismatch in wood colour/tone.

The binding will get more amber in colour, to match the binding on the neck. It is only bright because the amber top coats haven't been sprayed yet. It is the original factory binding that comes with the F-50R.

@kostask, don't worry amigo!! I'm just here to enjoy the journey and learn as much as possible. I enjoy these threads that take us on a trip and show us the way. I'm not here to question your decisions or quibble aesthetics, but to learn and I'm thinking that guitar is gonna be AMAZING!! Keep us posted on y'alls progress. It's looking GOOD!!! (y)(y)

Just heard from luthier. Says he is in the process of buffing out the top. I take it that the lacquer drying process is now complete. According to him, still lots to do.

Also, for Al, definitely go to Big Sur, unless you have some older software that won't run on Big Sur that you can't get along without. There are appearance changes, but most look good, and security improvements as well, as always.
