I must admit that I've always wanted to do this to a project beater M-65 -- Dynasonics and a Guildsby. However, I think I would try to execute it with much more elegance rather than the sloppy pickup installation on this one. I bet it sounds pretty cool, though. I've since abandoned this fleeting dream out of reverence for the M-65.

Simply stick the pickup through the cut out in the top sideways and pull it back up so the pickup flange will stop against the inside of the top. With self tapping Parker screws the pickup can be fastened from the outside.

While I'm not impressed with the workmanship, I'm not disgusted by it either. The owner wanted DeArmonds on their M-65 and they found a solution that worked. As I said, the workmanship could have been better, but if they ended up with a guitar that pleased them, then there's not much reason for them to be ashamed.
It's just a cheap guitar.
