Are you implying this particular guitar was shown in The Bible? I'm suprised the "Deluxe" term wasn't written on the label. When did you get a first hand look at this guitar?

Hey Mike,

No, it was not in the book. Actually, I never had the guitar in my hands but the guitar was for sale at some point and at that time I exchanged some info with the seller and he provided me with some photos. That's the nice thing about the database; a guitar like that just pops up when I punch in the model designation. As far as the 'Deluxe' designation is concerned, it's not unusual when you will not find it on the label. That was also the case with most of the 'Carved' versions of the S-100.

Sincerely,

Thanks Hans for the info.

The S100 Deluxe arrived safely on the 24th. It is in decent shape and shows some wear on the front body. The neck wear is minor and is much less than one would expect based on the body wear. All the electronics work fine. The guitar does need a good setup. The neck needs some truss adjustment along with the bridge which I'll do in the next week. The Guildsby works better than I expected and has the 1 inch long spring. The TRC needs to get flipped around and the pickup selector tip is from a Gretsch. I'll put a Guild on it as I get it set up. It also looks like the jack was replaced and noe pertrudes up higher than it should. I'll see if I can adjust it down. Overall a pretty nice guitar.

The eBay listing photo of Matsickma's S-100 Deluxe has stuck in my mind, first and foremost because of the beauty of the guitar, but also because of the use of the hardwood floor as a background to highlight the guitar. Since I have similiar hardwood flooring in my kitchen, I've thought about using it as a photo background, and when I got my S-100, it seemed like a natural to recreate that "pose" if you will.

Send both of those to me and I will take pictures on my hardwood floors! I just ripped out all the living room and hallway carpet this weekend. And I promise I would send them back...honest.

Certainly not. I would have thought less of you if you didn't try. You never know what might happen if you ask the right question or any question for that matter. One of my new favorites, and one that has been successful, is to ask Craiglist sellers "will you consider shipping your guitar to ...". The least they can do is ignore you or say "no." But if they say yes, you can end up with some pretty cool guitars.
