Holdsworth was largely a Prog/Fusion player, one of the best.
Gordon Beck was a very skilled but relatively conservative straight Jazz pianist.
Together on their Conversation Piece album, the two step outside their envelopes into the realm of Free Jazz, but an ECM-sh sounding Free still informed by their backgrounds.
Mr. Holdsworth definitely had chops.
They collaborated on two other albums, albums of duets. These are a bit tamer.
