Bound with the same walnut as the guitar. Somewhat of a stealth binding, but the focus should be on the Buckeye burl anyway. Wiped with some mineral spirits for a final color approximation.

Took some time to make up a dovetail marking gauge out of some acrylic sheet.
Fun fact, acrylic heats up a LOT when you flatten an edge on the oscillating belt sander. Which causes a buildup of melted plastic along the edges and makes INCREDIBLY hot to the touch when you go to do the other edge.

How does it work, you ask?

The top part lined up with the soundboard centerline and the first horizontal line with the edge.

Then line up that first horizontal with the edge and down the centerline on the sides.

That gives the saw lines to follow to cut out the mortise.

The neck tenon gets laid out the same way with the same guide.

While I'm using my sturdier 18mm Japanese chisel with the mallet to chop down along the back wall, the fishtail chisel is ideal for getting into the less than 90⁰ corners. (It's one that you only want to use where it must. It has a limited lifespan since every time it's sharpened it will get shorter and there will be less fish tail.)
