Be careful if you tap tune this guitar, it might vibrate itself right out of your hands.

I'm glad I went with mahogany instead of spruce for the side braces. I like the contrast with the maple and the matching of the kerfing.
And the main job of the side braces is too stiffen the sides so that the top (and back) have a stable platform. In a more split-prone wood, like Braz. rosewood, it would also help against side cracks, but that's not as much of a concern with maple. (And those cloth side "braces" aren't really doing that much.)

Today's order of business was getting this block of hog fitted, shaped, and glued.

Got me stumped. Is this a lefty guitar? If so, is it an additional support for a separate electronics jack (separate from the endpin, that is)?
