Hi all
i am a newbie but owned a 1959 Granada and loved it, especially the neck carve.
I am looking at a 1989 x160 and have a couple of questions/ would appreciate opinions on -

(1) neck carve? I like a thicker, wider neck, but thickness is key for me what is a an1989 x160 likely to be ?
(2) im assuming at that age its regular HB1s?
which is great, but i hear they can be a little bright , but also understand 200 k pots is the norm so
(3). Is swapping to 500 pots a realistic option ?
(4) with a big soundpost im assuming fallen tops arent an issue, but anything else to watch for ?
thanks in advance
Chris

Welcome to LTG! I have a 1989 X-160 (and a '91 X-170). It's a really nice guitar!

To your questions...

1) My X-160 has the following measurements:
Nut width - 1 5/8" Depth at nut - 0.88"
Width at 5th fret - 1.8" Depth at 5th fret - 0.89"
Width at 7th fret - 1.9" Depth at 5th fret - 0.96"
Width at 12th fret - 2.0" Depth at 5th fret - 1.4"

The profile is C-shaped. Not too thin, but certainly not chunky. I prefer wider necks, but have no problem playing this guitar.

2) Yes, unless they have been changed out by a previous owner.

3) It should already have 500K pots.

4) Fallen tops not an issue and nothing really to note other than if it needs a neck re-set.
