Martin Monels seem to really suit the D25m, mine is a 79. I find that the monels need playing in for a few days to bring out the tone, but as you say, fabulous!Do it.
Never heard of this other brand, but Guild is world famous.
I had a '78 D25, one of the most amazing acoustic Dreads I've ever owned. I had to sell it because my other guitars didn't approve.
It really was that good.
