I can't believe how BIG this guitar sounds. Was just wailing away on her for a while, then picked up my Eastman E6D and it sounded downright compressed compared to the Guild!

Oxnard, 2017. The strings didn’t feel dead, but they may have been monels or something strange. It had absolutely zero resonance.
I guess it just could have been a dud. My Traditional is very resonant, very responsive and just overall fantastic, plus it sounds amazing with Monels. But, duds happen with anything I guess.

It happens. I owned a 2010 D40 Traditional that was one of the rare duds from the New Hartford plant.

One thing I learned a long time ago is that one person's dud is another person's perfect guitar, even if the general consensus is that the guitar isn't very good sounding.

GG is absolutely right about that. I mean, unless we're talking about manufacturing defects, that is...

However, what is interesting and true is that guitars made under almost the exact same conditions/specs don't always sound the same. Wood is always different. The people in the shop doing the work vary. Sometimes precision does not result in uniformity.
