Maple archback, definitely.

But it has to be dirt cheap. That is the only way I could justify purchasing another guitar from here on out.

Especially since I just got an unpleasant outcome on my federal tax return. Ouch.

As close to a Grand as I can find.

I bought one about five years ago for $1200 that was in pretty good shape, so I know they are out there! I should have kept it.

I do wish you the best of luck with your search, Neal. Will keep my eyes peeled for one. Pawnshops, craigslist, garage sales...you never know. But the only one near a grand in the "sold" listings on Reverb is a Takamine knock-off.

Unfortunately prices for used instruments seem to have risen over time...I think you may need a wayback machine.:D
Oh how we all wish we could buy a Hoboken Guild for the price they sold for in 2001.

I won't put words into @Neal 's mouth but he does have a reputation for taking on projects and I understood his request as a fishing expedition for a vintage F-50 project - to quote the title "A Really Beat-Up Old F-50". So the comments about the budget might be missing the point of the request.
