Inspired by my M70 and the new X175 Special, I've been poking around to see if I could find a modern thinline hollowbody with Dearmonds and it's surprisingly difficult unless you can afford an early Starfire or Duane Eddy.

Gretsch did the very affordable G5125/6/7/8/9 (number indicates colour only) but I believe those are a good 2 3/4" deep, and the new X175 special is a full 3". The new Starfire II Dynasonic is a semi (and has a horrible stoptail bridge), as is the Dearmond Starfire Special and a few random Gretsch electromatic models with catseye soundholes from the '90s.

So can anyone think of a thinline fully hollow with Dynas/Dearmonds?

One option would be to get a NS SFIII and put a T-Armond in place of the LB1s, but then it doesn't have the look :)

pk, not sure if this DeArmond T-400 is fully hollow - but would the pickups you're describing fit in this?

A yes, the T-400, thank you. I've seen them for 750 bucks or so, but not too many around.

You could take an Aristo and install T-Armonds in soapbar covers.

Still another option would be to get something with dogears and then replace them with staples, which are similar to DeArmonds, but very expensive, alas

E.g. I can't afford an early Starfire or Duane Eddy. Also, I find '60s Guild necks too skinny, although the early ones can be different.

Another option, if you don't have to have the classic DeArmond look, is get one of the many thinlines available with full-size humbuckers and get a pair of DeArmonds-in-humbucker shell from Mojo pickups in the UK. They make great pickups, and are surprisingly affordable. Mojo pickups

Well I've gone ahead and scored two '60s dynas complete with harness, switch and pots. Now to find a vessel for them. I'll either go for an NS SFIII and swap out the pups and all the electronics in one go, or some kind of floating pickup archtop, but most of those are pretty fat.

Cool! Looking forward to seeing how the project guitar (whatever it is) turns out.
