Playing the Gagliano Model 900 put me in an acoustic archtop mood so the A-350 is on today's playlist! It's probably the "quietest" of any acoustic archtop I've owned, but it has a very sweet voice. Great for playing at home, not so great for playing in a swing band.
I have had a minty Stratford A-350 sunburst for a few years. The serial number is 8121. It was sold to me as a 1958, due to the number but taking a look at the Guild label inside I can see that it is oval, with the logo on top and the "Hoboken, New Jersey" line without "U.S.A" at the bottom...
I think I like the early '60s reddish sunburst better than the '58 tobacco sunburst. I also think the Kolb tuners are a nice upgrade to the Kluson Deluxe and Grover Sta-Tites used on the earlier models. They work better and look better, too.
I love the interesting background information Hans provided.......and puzzling guitars like this one.
A beautiful A-350 for sure with a great looking sunburst, I must admit to liking the circa 1957-58 tawny tobacco brown burst best.
No need to change a thing, but a nice DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1000 or 1100 would be a nice perfectly Guildesque addition.... (for me anyway).
It would still be a beautiful quieter archtop acoustic to enjoy when not plugged in.
