Somebody has one of those upscale S100 prototypes that has the G shield inlay on the headstock and the corresponding upscale fretboard inlays and bound headstock which I think is the smaller Guild style. Has anyone else seen this? I'm not talking about that overseas made thing that was floating...

From what I recall only the first handful had HB1s in '94.

Actually the January 15, 1995 pricelist still showed HB-1s:



The 1996 catalog showed the S-100 with new coverless pickups without specifying them:



The Sep 1, 1996 pricelist finally showed SD:

Right but catalogs are often out of date.

When I wrote about my #4 S100 from 1994 someone posted maybe #6 or 8 and it had SD pickups in it. Of course we know they weren’t necessarily built in order, so take that for what it’s worth.

HB-1s were def gone by 95, no matter what the catalog said. Heck, most 94s didn't have em.
