I found a 76' Guild M80. Someone had completely disassembled the guitar. They slathered the whole guitar including the fret board with polyureathne. The brush marks were so deep, they could have passed as field dead furrows. The electronics are completely unsoldered. So I haven't a clue of how Guild intended the wiring to be. I do believe it has a master volume, 2 volumes for PU, 2 tones PU, Phase switch, 3 way PU selector switch. Correct me if I'm wrong. I could really use some help with a diagram of this wiring. I don't understand why it has a Master volume and a 3 way PU selector? It seems overkill to me. If someone could help me with the wiring on this beauty, I'd love to play this guitar again. Thank you.

Welcome to LTG! There are others here that may be able to provide specifics, but to get you started, I suggest checking out these two articles:

I have a harness from a '75. It has solid shaft pots so would need set screw knobs. You're welcome to buy it or I can send a schematic.

It appears I have all the parts. How much for the harness, how much for a schematic. Or could you just give some pictures of it so I can follow the wires, & paint by numbers.

The harness would include all the parts. I'll send some photos when I get a moment.

It's basically LP wiring with a standard DPDT phase switch wired to the bridge pu. The master is just wired between the output of the switch and jack. Personally I would bypass the master volume.

Member "Phase Shifter" had posted a wiring diagram back in 2012 which seems to match the harness Ken showed, except that I doubt the bridge pup capacitor value, it was most probably 10nF only and not 47nF. The neck pup had 47nF.
Also I doubt the tone pot values, I assume both are 200kohms not 500.

This 1977 (S/N 1501x) M-80 has a 10nF (.01) one for the bridge pup: (neck 47nF). Don't know the pot values, maybe one is 200kohms?

And also the 1981 one in your review has the same 10nF cap:

And your 1975 also has the 10nF value for the bridge pup:

As does your 1973 or 1974 Bluesbird:

So the question is what the tone pot values are, I bet they are 200kohms for both tone pots in all the guitars above!

I see in all of them (137 = CTS and 304 = Stackpole) part number 5031 and 5033 pots, maybe 5031 was 500kohms and 5033 200kohms? Or all are 500kohms and one type is linear and the other logarithmic. I'm not familiar with the Guild part numbers 5031 and 5033...
5031 is the volume pot, 5033 the tone pot.

Maybe Ken could check his harness for the tone pot values and the capacitor values.

Are the caps both actually 0.47uF?
The neck cap is .047uf but the bridge one is smaller and I can't read the numbers but looks like the .01uf. All the pots ready around 150k which seems odd to me.

Thanks. Can you read any pot codes? If there's a Guild number we can use that to identify values.

I'll check out my '76 M-75 to see what my pot codes and caps read and post when I can.

My '76 M-75 also shows a .01uf and a .047uf. Unfortunately, my pots are oriented with the codes towards the edge of the cavity, and I can't read them without pulling them all.

Personally I thought the MV was quite marvelous on my '76 Starfire. You can kill the output in the guitar in a split second without affecting any of your settings, or turn it down while in the middle position without altering the tone, the typical treble bleed you get when you turn a volume pot down.

Pretty simple wiring harness actually.

That's a very good point. I hadn't thought about that. Thank you for all the info. It's much needed and appreciated.
