Hello everyone,

I'm looking at a used T50 from 1976 with a Mickey mouse pickup. The guitar intrigues me but I can't find any examples of what it sounds like online. I play mostly blues and delta blues and the woody sound of this guitar (and unplugged sound) in my mind might work for me but at the same time it may not. I know this guitar would be a great comfortable jazz box but how about for bluesy sounds? Delta slide guitar sounds? Any input with be greatly appreciated.

It's basically the same guitar as a T-100 (just without the cutaway) or an X-50 with a thinner body; either of those models from the Mickey Mouse era will sound similar - just ignore any bridge or middle-position playing:

Oliver Wood plays a T-100-D with those same pickups. I would say green light on the blues and the delta slide.

I may actually have a line on the identical twin to Oliver Wood's guitar, if you are interested in one of those. I'll know by June 1 if it is for sale or not. they are probably both from 1967, or very close. (Wood's and the one I know of)

It’s a thin hollow with a big single coil.
it would be a GREAT delta guitar in open D or G .
It would do a nice Texas sound like lightning Hopkins too.
A little delay would make it a bluesabilly machine .

Blindfolded, I doubt one could tell the difference between a T-50 and a T-100 . The T-50 would probably just have more pronounced bass.

It would be from 66, not 76?
The dates on when guild changed the pickups in the T50 seem to be confusing to me, I've seen some labeled as late 60s with the mickey mouse and also one from 78 with the same pickup, I'm sure someone on this forum knows the history but could it be they had the guitar with the two different pickup choices for a number of years?

I think they were out of production in 78, though I risk being Hans'd. The seventies T-100s I've seen had humbuckers after they used up mm stock.

A vital correction! The guitar is from 74'.

Well I'll be checking the guitar out in person Friday, according to the seller it has no wear at all, a closet queen, I'm excited.
