There's one on Ebay ending shortly that I just tossed the towel in on... though I did bid on it. If it goes for under $700 I'll probably shoot myself!

I have no idea how much these go for... been kind of keeping an eye out for a '68 for a while for a few reasons: first year production of D25, it's my birth year & also a pretty screwed up year (RFK & MLK assassinations are pretty awful blemishes) in terms of American history. It would be nice to have a positive memory of that year.

Anyways, I'm not made of gold right now by any stretch, but I'd love to get a '68 D25 at some point. Anybody have thoughts on how much one in decent shape would go for? Also, anyone else buy guitars for personal &/or sentimental reasons like this?

Time for a be-lated lazy Sunday AM pot of coffee....

I just went to the 10th Edition Blue Book, and they claim the D25 started production in 1979. very strange...

Pretty sure '68 is accurate. If not, a whole lot of folks here would be pretty disappointed (guys like Graham x 2!)......

Now looking at this chart it appears less than 100 of these were made in '68.... man, maybe I should bid again

Fungusyoung...
That one looks to be in really nice shape. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for $800-$850. I saw a "mint" '72 flat-backed mahogany D-25 sell for $995 last summer. Good luck...

Is it a flat back, the picture looks like it? Sweet, just brought 1978 one, .........thinking can I afford another one? Could sell the loser and keep the winner, brilliant plan, duh.......hmmmmmm......was going to buy a new one and instead talked a customer in the store in buying it and it was great sounding. I got four customers on pretext to play it for me and then tell me what they thought of it. They looked at the price tag of $490.00 and said they loved it. The last one went and brought it on me! Did I save myself from GAS!

Yeah, a '68 would be flat-backed. I really wanted that '72 last summer. I had played a '72 35 years ago when I was 17, and chose my D-35, instead. Would have been like going back in time, and getting both. That was my first eBay experience... I bid up to $850... but it went for $995.
Hope someone from LTG gets it!

Go for it :!: Maybe this can be that one that got away :!: Me thinks that it will pop into $800 land in the last minutes of its ebay life. This one may pass through my fingers, hopefully, someone at LTG will score it and then gives us the vicarious voyager report on it

I just bid again... but lots of time left. And, not that my bidding should stop anyone else that wants to take a stab either.

There's also a DV52 with less than a half hour left and still at sub $500 (as of now).

You know I thought that was pretty cool that you said that. Music is an emotional experience and I see no reason why it should end with just the music. I think that the relationship with your guitar is an emotional and personal experience and why not own one on that basis. It makes sense to me. If I had such a idea about a guitar I probably would act on it too. This whole site is pretty much occupied by artists, what do you expect? 8)
