To my knowledge, T-100's never had humbuckers, only single-coils. That being said, there are real experts around here and I'm sure one will be along presently. If you could post a picture ( we luv pics here) it would help to id the pups.

Welcome to our little neck o' the woods!

I believe some of the very last T100 came with humbuckers in the 1970's. If my memory is correct we talked about one of these T100 on LTG a while back-can't remember when.

T100 had Franz SC pups up to around 1962. Between 1962 and 1965 they came with the small chrome soapbar SC pups. From 1965 throught the later 1960's they came with the all white, and sometimes with chrome surround, Mickey Mouse pickups. I don't know when the MM Pups were no longer available. I remember seeing a sunburst T100 with two full size humbuckers. The guitar looked a lot like a Starfire. In the discussion about this guitar the comment was raised that the T100 began to look so much like a Starfire that Guild eventually discontinues the line.

I never saw a T100 with mini humbuckers.

Found it!

Read all to understand the close up picture of the pickup and Han's earlier comments.

I popped the pictures in to make it a quick view.

'66 seems early to me, for a T100 to have stock humbuckers. jg66100h, do they look like the ones pictured above ?

The Guitar in the pictures is an early 1970's T100D. It was posted to show that later T100's did in fact come with Humbuckers. It had been assumed that ALL T100 only came in Single Coils. The picture shows this was not true.

However did T100's ever come with the mini Guild Humbuckers?

Hello Mike,

Yes, T-100s with the small Guild humbuckers do exist. It wasn't documented in Guild literature but the T-100(D) went from small single coils to humbucking pickups around the same time as the Studio 301/302/303, which up till then had been standard equipped with the small single coils as well. The change happened during 1970. Consequently the first of the T-100s and the Studio models from that period had Guild humbuckers of the small variety. I did make a note of that and the fact that some of these T-100s were actually Starfire guitars on page 60 of The Guild Guitar Book.

Towards the end of 1970 the bigger HB-1 humbuckers were introduced and that's what you will find on both the T-100(D) and the Studio models after 1970. Both these models were discontinued soon after that so not too many were made with the humbucking pickups.

AAHHH. There the little mini's are!

Hans, How do you keep all of this trivia organized?!

I must admit that ever since I saw/heard Feast with her SFV on YouTube I have given the DE400 more playing time. A few tweaks to the amp and these pickups start to really stand out and have a bit of rawness to them that I now appreciate.

M

p.s., Hans take a look at the Solid Body section and render an opnion on the photo showing a Guild Bigsby on a mid 1970's M80.

I never saw a pickup like that on Guild. Maybe a mini humbucker from a Gibson.

M

Hello everybody,

A Gibson mini-humbucker has much smaller polepiece heads. It is definitely not a Guild pickup and at first sight I would say a Hofner pickup from the '70s:
