Hi guys, I bought a little guitar today. I'm looking for a TRC and case that will actually fit. Anybody have some suggestions?
I took some pics to show where the pick scratches are, so you can all feel grateful that your F-20 isn't this beat up!! :)

It needs a neck set, but not tomorrow. The bridge is made out of mahogany and the previous owner, a very competent luthier, is adamant that first bridge was made out of mahogany, too. Who am I to disagree? IMG_0778.jpgIMG_0783-2.jpg

Congrats Harry! I love the early F20s, but don't get along with the narrow nut very well. The only cases that I know of that are a good fit are from Guild (the "concert" size), and they're not cheap. Some of the rather cheap tweed cases from the GAD series F20s work well, but they look a lot nicer than they really are.

walrus, sandy, appreciate the kind words!
Sandy, I thought the neck would be too small, but i didn’t notice any of the usual small neck issues, perhaps because of the higher than normal string height.
I like the sound of the guitar. The chords up the neck ring true. The guitar has a surprising amount of punch, plus I think it will contrast nicely with the Size Three Burl Ives Outfit
I just ordered! What a combination! If I could only sing, sigh.

When I got my F20, I did find a case that fit near perfectly. I’m looking for which it is, I thought I got it off Amazon, but there’s no order that year. I’ll let you know when I find it.

Thanks, I don’t know if I have enough towels to adequately stuff the case that came with it!

As I already told you in my email, the original bridge is not made of mahogany. It's just pale looking rosewood that is not preferred in general. I have several bridges in my stash that look exactly like that. Definitely rosewood!

Sincerely,

I have Guardian cases for my F-20 and M-20. I have one still brand new/NOS if u are interested, Harry. I may also have a Guild case from Hoboken to fit an F-20, available. need to check on that (it appears too small for F-30)

When you get a chance, send me a pic of the Hoboken case, once you know what size it is.
Thanks, Harry

The Gad cases are OK, (lightweight),.

Never held one but I think they look really neat...much better looking than the cases the Orpheums came in

Harry, there's not one thing I don't like about that guitar!! Even the wear and pick scratches are mellow and worn and that color is great!! Congrats!! Funny, in looking at that bridge closely I thought it was mahogany too, but since the boss has spoken, I'd better get my eyesight up to snuff!! (y)(y)

Under closer inspection I can see the difference between those two woods. Similar, but not the same for sure. Is there any reason mahogany can't make a good bridge? Just curious is all.......

Found it. Unfortunately it’s unavailable, at least from Amazon, but this one fir my F-20 perfectly. When looking, go for a Martin 0 size, not OM or 00 or 000.

Hello

Have any of you with Guild F-20 ever had a chance to compare it with Gibson LG2-3/4 ???

It is parlour-size - Les Paul shape - no cutaway naturally - fits into LP-case.

Love those old sunbursts after they have had years to fad a bit and change. That one looks especially fine.
Congrats
