Okay, my son tells me about a 5D Chess game, then we watch a video of it being played. I can barely compose this message because my brain has melted, fried, fused, maybe all of the above. But I am not a chess player.

For those of you who are and who also love a challenge I present this:

Good luck! You're going to need it.

(No affiliation with game - as a matter of fact I don't think I want it anywhere near me - its marketers, developers, and all that stuff.)

I played chess remotely for years but gave up on chess when computer-based chess games arrived on the scene. At that point, I never knew who or what I was actually playing against. I put that effort back into mathematics.

At least you understood that much, which was more than I had gathered at first sight. Reading the comments there was one where a physics major planned to use the game for his dissertation.

My first impression was that the game was way more than I wanted to get involved with, but I've been thinking about it ever since and I'm intrigued, wondering just how does it work? But I don't play chess. I know how the pieces move but the strategy required is not something I really understand. I think my brain just doesn't work that way. Or maybe I haven't played enough for an understanding to take hold.

In any event in all honesty I can't stop thinking about the game and that it would be at least a bit interesting. And probably a lot baffling.
