i have owned this guitar since 1964, it was supposedly owned by red foley (pat boones father inlaw) i believe it must be a 1st year issue as it has a black circular plastic disk under the toggle switch, and no serial # on headstock and the headstock is different than all the pics i can find.
guitar pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/cogcan/Guild# comments welcome

Hello cogcan,

Nice guitar! Yes, those are '54 specs. I have a fairly extensive Aristocrat collection and the oldest one I have is very similar to yours.

Sincerely,

Red Foley is namechecked in that fab Carl Perkins song "lets give old Tennessee credit for music..." - "Mr Red Foley came from Tennessee"

He also boasts about the first atomic bomb tests :)

Yup, those guys are high octane. I still haven't been able to find one like that with a master volume. Does anyone know if the Aristocrats ever came equiped that way?

Hello dogman,

No, they were not done that way but I guess it is always possible that somebody ordered it with a Master Volume. That one looks like it was added at a later date though!

It looks to be about a '59-'60 model, so the master volume knob is definitely not original
