Does anyone have an early 50`s Guild? I have a `54 F-40 made in New York and would like to be able to do some comparisons.

I have a '57 F20. Without question it's the one I'd keep if I could only have one, probably it's an aquired taste.

Wish I had a 50s something to join in, so I'll just notice that there are getting to be several of us in the Pacific NW.....How cool is that....? :D Steffan

Jeff, I can understand what you are saying about your F-20, I have played a couple over the years that were great sounding guitars. I was looking through Hans` book tonight wondering if there were any production totals from the guitars of this era but couldn`t find anything. Do you have any ideas of totals?

I don't know if the individual model production numbers exist, all I've seen is the totals. Hans would know, if anyone, tho I seem to remermber him mentioning the records don't exist.

I would be interested to know how big a spread there is in the serial numbers between the the f-20 and m-20 mentioned and also between my f-40

In the beginning in 53 were they making only acoustics or was there a mix of electrics in there too. I`m surprised there aren`t more early Guild owned by forum members. I guess alot of the guitars didn`t survive

'53 X-50, '53 X-350, '54 X-400, '57 M-20

The M-20 was my first Guild, the X-50 is a close friend, the X-400 makes me realize how far away I am from being a good player, and I've not yet played the X-350 (Eiichi is healing old wounds).

I'd really like to find a good old F-40. And I'm just across the water in Kits, Creekside - let's get together.
