Wow, Tom - beautiful, fascinating to hear her voice at that point in time - can
hear some Joni and Joan influence in there for sure!

Wow is right! Channeling Joni without a doubt. Never knew she could sing like that. Very cool find.

She definitely is hitting those Joni high notes! And only 21, astounding vocals and guitar playing...

Best female guitar player, ever. One of the best slide players, period.

Add to that a voice that just cuts right to your soul, and her ability as a songwriter, and you have the makings of a multiple Grammy winner and Hall of Fame inductee.

Wow, that's an amazing photo of Bonnie. I had a display poster of her when she couldn't have been much more than 21. I had it framed. I'm not sure if I sold it at the street fair a couple years ago, and I'm surprised I don't have a photo of it. So I looked online -- there are SCADS of posters of Bonnie on google images, but not one of them is the poster I've got/had! So it's totally rare! And all my artwork is boxed up and out in the "shop," (which could house a boat and a couple cars). It's a great Bonnie photo! I'll have to get back to you on that!

Wow, nice, I hadn't heard this recording. And with an older Guild, not her deluxe F50.

You know, she took guitar lessons from Lowell George; you can definitely hear his influence in her slide blues.

Here's another treat: Lowell George with Little Feat, with Bonnie and EmmyLou on backup vocals:

Man Emmylou played with just about every one of my favorite artists. The Band, Little Feat, Gram Parsons (where her career started as I understand it.) and she knew a good song when she heard it. I think she was one of the first to cover Townes Van Zandt about a good 10 years before Willie and Waylon did. It’s probably a crime but I never got around to listening to Bonnie in great depth.

In '78, we saw EmmyLou and the Nash Ramblers on a small showboat venue. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.

I just found a pic of it buried on my hard drive. Mrs. Cougar says we sold the poster at the street fair. Somebody got a rare poster!

Hey @Cougar i know you wondered if you still had it. Sad that not, but you have a photo, and these days photos take up much less room than actual posters and stuff. Thanks for sharing that my friend!!

If y'all enjoy early Bonnie Raitt, you might enjoy this album:

Bonnie Raitt - The Lost Broadcast - Philadelphia 1972

This is a European bootleg of her legendary live remote for WMMR from Sigma Sound Studios with Freebo on bass. I've linked to "Blender Blues" (one of the sexiest songs ever recorded) from that broadcast several times.

Here's what Discogs says about the label: "Issues semi legal releases using a hole in the European copyright laws concerning recorded public broadcasts. It should be noted that many of the released recordings are infact audience recordings."
