I've decided to put this one up for sale, and will list it here first as I'd like to see it stay in the family. This is a rare bird, and one of only 12 or so that was ever made. It has one of the nicest finishes I've ever seen on any guitar, and is a featherweight at 6.2 pounds. The GSR M-85 II features a fully hollow body with a laminated mahogany arched top supported with parallel tone bar bracing and bound with 4-ply black and white binding. The back and sides are mahogany and the three-piece mahogany/maple neck is topped with rosewood and finished off with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The electronics offer a low end roll-off via a two-way mini toggle, and other features include a combo bridge/tailpiece with rosewood saddles, Gotoh tuners, a vintage-style “Chesterfield” inlay, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Cherry Red.

About the only flaw I can find is a crack in the headstock veneer that runs parallel to the nut between the two rows of tuners. You can just barely see it on the left in the photo (rest is a reflection), so it's not much of an issue.

Serial number dates it to late 2013.

Included is the original hard shell case.

Price is now $SOLD, and that's pretty firm. I'll keep it before I go any lower, as I really don't need the money. I bought a set of Hipshot Ultralite tuners to address the minor neck dive issue that a bass this light with a big headstock is going to have, and can include them in the sale for an additional $75 if you're interested. Checks and Postal Money Orders are much preferred at this price, but we can discuss other methods. Shipping will be by insured FedEx Ground to the 50 states. Contact me for a quote.

Bumping this with a much lower price, as maybe I had overpriced it initially. With there being so few of these, I had no idea what a fair price for one would be, but maybe $2000 is more realistic.

That's a gorgeous bass, Sandy. If I didn't have such a feverish longtime affair with my Hofner Club bass, I would jump at that.

Good luck with the sale, and I hope someone here snaps it up.

Thank @jp! Photos don't really do this one justice either. It's even prettier in person.
