Well I have enjoyed the heck out of this one. I bought it a couple of years ago from Grassdog on Reverb. It is in excellent condition. I need to stick to my one in / one out rule and this is the acoustic that gets the least amount of play time. That is not saying much as I have played it quite a bit. Just not as much as my JF65, D-18 or my Furch. It was between this one and the Furch, and seeing as how the Furch is my only cedar/rosewood, it gets to stay. I've got $1750 ( purchase / tax / shipping / set up ) in this guitar total. I meditated on this one quite a bit as it is a real beauty and not one that you see come up often. At least not one like this one. It's body size makes it super comfy to play for those of smaller frame or shoulder problems. I'd like to get what I have in it all together. $1750 shipped.

This thing deserves more attention than I can give it.

Here are the specs:
Top - Adirondack / Red Spruce ( nice wide grain )
Back / Sides - Solid flamed maple ( super nice )
Body type - Grand Auditorium
Nut Width - 1 11/16"
Bridge / FB - Rosewood
New Hartford, CT Build
Gotoh SE700 Tuning Machines
L.R. Baggs Anthem installed
Original Guild Hardshell Case Included

I'm a big maple fan; they really cut it. Last time I gigged out at a local restaurant, without an amp, still my 45th anniversay rang true and reached the audience. Good luck with the sale. That one should sell quickly.

Thank you so much. I'm still thinking that one day I'll get another early 70's D40. But I think this F47M is going to be a great guitar for me and a lot easier to play than a dread. I appreciate all you did to help make this happen!

Yah, it's a beaut. I've only had one other maple guitar (Larrivee Pete Anderson) as my go-to has always been mahogany. So I'm looking forward to this one. Guild has always done maple really well and I'm a fan of the New Hartford era guitars in general. I only wish I had jumped on a couple of Orpheum's when I had the chance back in the day. But this does mean I'll most probably have to put my Gibson J-15 up for sale to help offset the cost of the Guild. Maybe I'll have to play that Powerball tomorrow so I can keep both and buy lots more. ;)

I hope you do, LJ. I feel like every picker should have at least one hog dread in the pile and the D-40 is at the top of this category.

Enablers, not so anonymous. ;) After all, what is a forum of like-minded 'addicts' for in the first place? Questions about what to buy, questions about what I bought and what to do now that I bought it, and hey, did you see what just posted for sale, and of course NG / NB / NA Day posts. All good stuff!!!

OK, call me a barbarian... but I've never really liked Guild pick guards. Though I really dislike the big, thick ones Gibson put on 60's J-45 / J-50's. That said, can an OM-type (I call them tear drops but I'm sure there's another term for them) pick guard work on a F47, and would taking the existing guard off leave a ghost outline? Not saying I'm gonna do it but wanted to ask.

You know, LJ, I never considered swapping it out. The top has held its shade pretty nicely, but I would imagine there would still be an outline.

Oh my, that would just be soooo wrong! From the very first time I saw a Martin pickguard, I’ve always found the teardrop shape to be incredibly boring. Conversely, the pickguard on this gorgeous Guild enhances its beauty, imho. Please give it a chance to survive intact!

All good points. What I like about a teardrop is the compact size. I always felt that a large scratch plate could inhibit the top vibration. Then again, it could all be in my head. Not planning on doing anything soon, if at all. The question is more a matter of what if...

@bobouz that's quite the 'arsenal' you have. nice to see an Elitist Casino. I always like this entire line of Epiphones, and the Tennessean. I have a 2012 Gretsch Tennessee Rose (short scale, painted on F holes) which is my regular go-to electric. Great guitars.

Thanks LJ. Of course I do kid, as it will be your guitar to set up to your liking. But gosh, it’s sitting so pretty right now! As for pickguards effecting tone, my thoughts over time have evolved on this, based on previous modifications made to assorted instruments. In my experience, changes made north of the bridge typically seem to have an incrementally minimal impact, if any noticeable impact at all. Regardless, major congrats on a wonderful acquisition!
