Yeah, but Steffan, where are you going to get a D-50 built with Madagascar rosewood? :)

These Marquis Madagascar guitars are supposed to be really nice. Is it $4000 nice? Not in my world. :)

Guess I'll have to suffer, live the deprived life, and just maybe settle for one of those old Guilds for half the price, you know...the ones that don't shout "We're number 1, we're number 1"....because they are in a class by themselves....Until then I guess my F50-R will have to get me thru.... Steffan

It's all relative.

Some folks find a GAD-30R a moderately expensive guitar, but very good for them.

Others find a D-50BS a moderately expensive guitar, but very good for them.

Still others find a D-28 MM a moderately expensive guitar. And I can guarrantee, soundwise it is very good for anyone.

Well....since you can get a NEW D-28 on line for about $1800......his asking price is ridiculous.....

I went into a guitar center a couple of weeks ago - 1st time in my life! - and played a few Martins. The little mahogany D15 was a jewel at under a grand so i expected great things from the others (HD-28, D35 etc...) but none of them stood out as special to me. The $2900 D-41 sounded a little better on the low end but lacked the openness of my $900 Tacoma DV6 - guess i'm just spoiled now 8)

Not quite.
A D-28, straight-braced, Sitka over EIR, plain appointments = $2999 list
A D-28 Marquis, forward shifted, scalloped braced, Adirondack over EIR, herringbone, diamond/square inlay = $5299 list
A D-28 Marquis Madagascar, the above, but with Madi instead of EIR = $7599
Braz costs lots more than that, except that it isn't available much from Martin now!

Note: The original title of the thread might have made it clear that it was not a Standard Series D-28, but named the full model.
