Just picked up a beautiful 07 Tacoma built F30. Ice tea burst in mint condition. The seller said it was an Adi top, and not questioning him, but it sure looks like Sitka. It is fine grained with some cross silking. Were all Tacomas of that vintage made with Adi tops? Also wondering about the finish. Would it be nitro or poly?

Thanks for all responses.

The answers will be coming, as soon as some of the historians see your post. I don't know myself.

Most Tacoma F30's that I have seen came with an Adirondack top. Some of them have a tighter grain than most and silking is not that uncommon on a nice Adrondack top. I have 2 Adirondack guitars with lots of beautiful 3D silking in them. If you could post a photo we can tell you for sure. To post a photo you have to host it somewhere else and post the photo's URL or address here. As far as the finish I am 100% positive that it is Nitro Lacquer. Congrats on a great F30 and we would love to see some photos!

Welcome aboard RB!~
Not ALL Tacomas had adi tops, only select models of which F30 was one, and Tacoma was the first Guild factory to use Adi.
Jeff brings up an interesting point that '07 is definitely Adi and I think that was the first year, but I could be wrong.
Like TXBumper said, finish is NCL.
Up through close of New Hartford in 2014, Guild acoustics were always NCL finished with only a very few exceptions like some of the "FS" series a/e's from the '80's, and the "HR" Hand Rubbed finish which was NC based but not sprayed and buffed in layers to a gloss finish.

Wow, I'm really impressed by the depth of knowledge that you folks have about Guild's history. There also seems to be a very real and gentle fondness for the brand, almost a reverence, which is great. I like this guitar so far... Still trying to get used to the sound of the Adi top. It is very different from Sitka. The neck is also different for me. It's kind of chunky, which feels good at his point. I'm experimenting with different strings and pins. Just installed a set of Martin Retros, and am liking what I hear so far.
Thanks for the replies, folks. There is a warmth that I'm feeling on this forum... Unlike some other forums.
