Apr 2022: Back on the market now that the weather is getting good to ship.

I like the sound a whole lot but it’s on the large size for me and the nut width is too narrow vs my preferred 1-3/4.

Will sell locally in MA for $1500 cash, or $1550 Paypal plus shipping at cost to the US.

Great model. At that price, and if I didn't already have two of them, I'd be all over this one. A new nut would be pretty inexpensive if that's all it takes to mae this one "right".

If I was keeping this I would replace the nut. To have someone do it for me would take weeks due to backlog. In that case I wouldn’t be able to ship until next Spring. So it is what it is at this point.

Hey Mikey! I'm new to the forum, but have been looking for an F40 to get a little more low-end than my '64 F30. Do you know what year this is? I'm located in the Bay Area in California--where are you? Very interested...

Hi Scott, It is a 1978. I have it out getting a new nut and saddle. I’m in MA. Message me and we can talk more if you are interested, but I’m not shipping again until the spring.

It looks like the bridge has been glued.

Has it had a neck reset? Hard to tell from the photo the height of the saddle.

No neck reset that I’m aware of. I took a cloth the the bridge area and it cleaned up so I expect it was polish residue. I added new pics. As indicated there is no room to take the action lower, 3/32 was as low as my guy could get it. I got it from member blakeb2193 who runs the Guild Acoustics facebook group. He may have more history on it.

I think it’s awesome. I love the top. The Grover 102c’s are a fair swap for the originals, at 14:1. I’ve done the same on some older guitars when the originals just get worn out. They are the norm for most manufacturers today. I like The 18:1s on finger style. I can get get it dead on, but they move slow. I also like the 1978 with maple necks vs the mahogany, just matches the guitar a bit better though both are great. I’ll be watching the listing😊

Price lowered because, well, I just bought another used Guild with a wider nut.
