I recently acquired this Guild F-412 from the serial number dates to 1977. The previous owner is the only one before me and he used to play as a session musician and toured as well. He was diagnosed with Guillain Barre a neurologic disorder which took his ability to play initially live and then guitar all together. He gave it to me as he knew I play guitar a lot as well (he was my neighbor). I would like to know how much are they worth and if you guys know and good luthier who could also give it a good look at. (I live in the Detroit metro area)

thanks guys!

Welcome. Stick around - nice bunch of folks around here. That is quite a well-loved instrument - I imagine it sounds heavenly.

I see some missing binding and soundboard wear - do you have any specific concerns about other issues?

It does sound amazing! Never heard an acoustic 6 string guitar sound as deep and loud as this 12 string. I am a much more electric guitar player also. The missing binding on the first fret and the wear on the sound board are all real wear from the playing the precious owner.
I dont have any real concern tbh. The ebony on the fretboard is very well kept, the tuners work perfectly fine, and hold tuningvery well. The bridge is still well glued and as far as I can see its still all original. The nut looks good as well as the saddle. The only thing is the frets feel very worn in, not that much life in them left. He has never changed the frets so probably still the same since ‘77

I would like to know how much are they worth....
I just look at reverb.com's sold listings to get an idea. I'd say it's worth at least $2,000, but a 1969 with several top cracks went for near $3,000. A 1978 in very good condition went for $4,000, so condition means a lot. If your neck angle is OK and you give it a fret job, it might bring $3,000+. Guild's jumbo 12-strings are killer.

The neck angle seems ok, doesn’t have twist either.
I just need to find a very good luthier then😪

Welcome to LTG! Sorry to hear about your neighbor, but it sounds like the guitar is in good hands now. With a little TLC, the guitar will be ready for another 44 years of playing.
