Hey all -

New here and looking to see if anyone can give me some more info about this guitar that was passed down to me from my mom.

She was the original owner and bought it in 1977.

I can't find any like it online except for one that sold on reverb six years ago.

Aside from learning that the G75 is a 3/4 version of the d-50 models I don't know much.

Thanks to all who contribute!

Welcome to LTG.
That is a rather rare acoustic IMHO. A 3/4 size D50. I really like that your Mom bought it new in 1977, and had had it ever since. That in itself is a great story.

The model is pretty much as you describe it above. I would love to play one someday but they are rare as can be. I am sure another can give us details re how many were made and for how long.

I'm interested to find out more about what the letters after G75 mean also... I read through the threads but no mention of "nt" anywhere. I see G75 followed by other letter combinations but not sure what they mean.

Thanks for the info.

Forgot to post this also..

Welcome helpfulable. That is a terrific and very uncommon model. I did get a chance to inspect and play one being sold near me for another LTG member overseas who ended up buying it. I was very impressed with it first because it played so well with the ebony neck and comfortable size. Secondly it sounded incredible - kind of shocked me at how much larger it sounded versus its size. Finally the visual quality of the top and especially the rosewood, like yours, was just stunning in person. It almost looks like Brazilian though by the date it is probably not. Whatever it is Guild chose some amazing wood all around for this model. Really a top notch small body Guild your mom passed down to you. I hope you enjoy it!

Moved to Acoustics.

I have a G75 that I recently bought and I was kind of blown away by it. Fabulous little guitar with a huge sound.

Hey - the sound is awesome... it really is crazy how much sound it pumps out. I don't play guitar well at all honestly - I actually haven't even picked one up in about 12 years or so. I can still remember some of the blink-182 rifts I learned when I was younger though... lol! She'll live in her case for now.

Thanks!

It's a great inheritance. What a cool heirloom.

Congrats on inheriting a great guitar!
Perhaps take it to a well-regarded guitar shop, get new strings and a setup, and play it!
And of utmost importance - keep it humidified!
Give a heads-up here if you ever decide to part with it.
Here's a photo of mine - agreed, Guild seems to have used some
really nice wood on these.

The color on yours is great - is it just a g75? Or what is the model number? Ive also seen g75r and g75rc. The catalog page shared by @SFIV1967 only shows g75 and g75nt which is what mine is.

Do you know what the value of a guitar like mine is? I saw the exact one I have on reverb sold for $1,600 almost six years ago but not in as nice a condition. The receipt from when my mom bought it says she paid $400 plus tax in 1977... Inflation calculator estimates a purchasing power equivalent of $1,959 today in 2023. I was wondering if it has held/lost/gained value over time? I guess anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it anyway so there is always that.

Not planning on selling it btw!! I thought about it but decided I don't want to let it go. Just curious!

Thanks.
